As part of The Age of Political Earthquakes series at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Bill Emmott and Mick Hume go head to head in a debate.

Bill Emmott – Former Editor, The Economist. Author of The Fate of the West (his fourteenth book), co-screenwriter of the documentary ‘Girlfriend in a Coma’ (2012) and co-founder of The Wake Up Foundation.

Mick Hume – Editor-at-Large of ‘Spiked’, author of Revolting  and There’s No Such Thing As A Free Press former columnist in The Times, Manchester United fan.

Bill Emmott will be arguing that democracy is in crisis and that Brexit and Trump are insular. Mick Hume will be opposing, with the view that people who dismiss the majority as ignorant, are to blame for the crisis.
