The Grassroots Action Support Fund (GAS) is a joint initiative between the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) to give financial and other support to new campaigners and campaign groups.
There is a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitch to funders of a small grant, between £1000 and £5000 available for shortlisted groups. You can read more on the GAS -SMK page and apply by email.
DO read around the SMK website first, it will help you to be more knowledgeable about SMK. The foundation runs training courses for activists and places are available at reduced cost and are free in some instances.
It makes sense to take expert advice from people who have been teaching people how to campaign and empowering them, since 2005, rather than struggle through it.
You can sign up for the SMK newsletter to find out when and where training courses will happen.
